Mendeley Desktop is Here to Stay.

We previously announced that Mendeley Desktop would no longer be available for new downloads and installations (more details here). Many of you told us how much you love Mendeley Desktop and were not ready to make the switch to the new Mendeley Reference Manager yet.

We want to assure you that Mendeley Desktop is here to stay. Although there will be no new feature development for Mendeley Desktop, we will continue to provide essential maintenance support – this includes addressing critical security issues.

For those who’d like to explore it, you can download it here.

For those who already have it installed, follow these steps to ensure you’re using the latest version (1.19.8):

Sign in to Mendeley Desktop.
Navigate to the ‘Help’ tab at the top of your screen.
Select ‘Check for Updates’.
Select ‘Check Now’ and follow the instructions on your screen.

You might want to try Mendeley Reference Manager, our new desktop client. It offers exciting new features and improvements, and we will be focusing our future updates there. Transitioning is not risky, and your library won’t change. Just remember to sync your Mendeley Desktop library to the cloud before signing in to Mendeley Reference Manager.
