Mendeley Web Importer is better than ever.
We know how frustrating it can be when you’re trying to use an application, and things don’t go as planned. Unexpected errors and sign-in issues can throw off your entire flow.
Which is why we’ve been hard at work to ensure that our users are met with a more reliable, stable, and seamless experience every time they open the app.
The Sign-in Flow is More Stable
In the past, leaving the sign-in window idle for over 30 seconds could sometimes cause it to display a blank screen when you tried to continue the login process. Now, you can resume logging in smoothly without any interruptions or blank screens.
Additionally, we’ve introduced support for multiple logins, so you can now use two different Mendeley accounts simultaneously by opening an Incognito window.
Bugs Be Gone
Users should now experience a smoother and more reliable Mendeley Web Importer — it launches and closes as expected, and no longer gets stuck requiring you to close your browser tab.
Previously, if you were sharing the same system with another user, and the other user imported a reference into their library, you would not be able to import the same reference. This was because Mendeley Web Importer would think the reference already exists in your library. Now, with the latest update, Mendeley Web Importer clears all session data when users log out, ensuring that another user’s activity no longer impacts your importing experience.
Additionally, we fixed a bug that caused the reference list to display the same references across different pages or browser tabs. Now, your reference list will accurately reflect the content relevant to each tab.
Finally, users can now see the “View PDF” button for ScienceDirect articles, making access to full texts more straightforward.

And this is just the beginning. We’re continuing to monitor performance closely and have even more enhancements planned. We’re just getting started.
If you notice something that still feels off or slower than expected, we’d love to hear from you via our support hub located here.
